HEPSANET meeting in Cairo
Representatives of all 15 active sites in HEPSANET met in Cairo, Egypt prior to the COLDA conference on 18th September, from The Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, and South Africa. We discussed many exciting topics and future directions for HEPSANET. We agreed key priorities for our research in the next 12 months, discussed the key research papers we aim to deliver, discussed the organisational structure, authorship policies and training and capacity building initiatives.
We welcomed Prof Mohammed El-Kassis from Helwan University in Cairo who joins HEPSANET as the first North African site.
Prof Roger Sombie on behalf of his team in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso accepted the HEPSANET award for 2024 for their incredible commitment to HEPSANET and patient care for people living with hepatitis B.
We are excited about the future for HEPSANET and look forward to many impactful publications over the next 12 months which can really lead to improved care for people living with hepatitis B in Africa.
